This was Zenith’s initial entry into the shirt-pocket sized radio market in 1960, almost 2 years after Japan made a small transistor, but the Royal 50 was worth the wait. The tone that comes from these Royal 50s is just what you would expect from a Zenith. The size is 2 ½” wide, 4 ¼” tall, and 1 ¼” deep. It weighs only 7.7 ounces and cost $29.95 new back in 1960. It came in 5 color combinations: tan, red, or chocolate with a beige back, and solid white or solid black.
This red version is in good cosmetic condition with signs of wear and use but no damage. It is clean inside and in all original condition with no repairs or alterations.
The chassis is all original and in working condition. Just listen to it play: MOV09784
