Sears Silvertone Model 4226 Portable – 1964

In stock

Offered here out of storage is a unique 12 transistor Silvertone Medalist portable with AM & FM.  The unique part is that there are separate tuners for each band which means you can set your favorite AM and FM station and just toggle back and forth by sliding the band switch and never have to adjust the tuner.  This is a heavy and beautiful set.  The leather carry strap on top does not seem to  have had much pull on it.  I know I have never lifted this radio by the strap.  But this is all metal, heavy and solid.  Perhaps it was made by Arvin because they also made a dual tuner portable, not near as beautiful as this model though.  The silver mesh grill on this is perfect.  No wear on this at all, just a light scratch on the back cover near the screw.  Included is an attractive vintage box (does not match the radio though) and paperwork which does match.

This is an attractive and great playing radio.  It is very sensitive, even on FM without the antenna extended!  It operates on 6 “C” batteries and the battery tube is very clean.  Have a look at the pictures and judge for yourself.  Then listen to it play below:
