Offered here is a scarce white Zenith Royal 50H model from 1961. (I say scarce because it has been my experience that most of the white versions were made a year later as the 50K). In 1961, Zenith restyled their popular new shirt pocket radio adding stylish metal trim and created an attractive new 2nd generation Royal 50. It was offered in Black, Tan, Red, Charcoal, and a few in White like this one. It is compact in size at only 2 ½” wide and 4” tall and weighs only 7.7 ounces, but the six transistor chassis puts out an impressive 135 milliwatts of clear rich tone and operates on two common AA batteries. The suggested retail price back in 1961 was a bargain at $26.95.
This radio is in excellent cosmetic condition and when tested it played fantastic. Very sensitive. A nice bonus is the early version of the quality label on the back. Have a close look and listen below:
