Offered here is the extremely hard to find two-tone Zenith’s Royal 800 portable radio from 1956. This discovery is all original but is only in average cosmetic condition. Amazingly it does play and when 8 “C” batteries were inserted, the radio pulled my local stations with decent volume and tone.
The exterior cabinet has no chips or cracks or other real damage as such, but it is obvious to me that this came from the home of a smoker. Inside, it is all original and complete with a nice battery tube, but the spring for the “pop-up” handle is missing. The serial # of 40,082 is the earliest number I have seen for this short production run of the Royal 800 in 1956. Looks to be all original.
