Earphones » Early Translucent High Impotence
This earphone was made for the very early hand-wired sets (7XT40 circuit #1) that required high impedance. Later, Zenith re-designed the hand-wired sets (7XT40 circuit #2) with the low impedance type earphone jack. However, the low impedance type earphone will not work very well in the very early Zenith hand-wired sets due to the impedance mis-match between the newer-type earphone and the radio’s circuitry. These high impotence earphones are hard to find today. They come mostly in tan, but sometimes in this clear case. I wonder if Zenith offered these translucent phones with their rare translucent radios? >I have only seen and found the early version “High Impedance” Zenith earphone in the natural “Tan” color plastic, and even >this is very difficult to find. Most of the time, you will find the newer Zenith Low Impedance type (12-15 Ohms), with the natural tan color plastic.
